Digital Terrestrial Changes from August 28, 2024
New Generation for DVB-T2
On August 28, 2024, the switch to the new DVB-T2 broadcast system begins, marking a significant change for terrestrial television in Italy. This transition brings about the adoption of a new digital terrestrial standard, which will impact certain channels and necessitate some upgrades for viewers.
Gradual Implementation
The transition will be implemented gradually, with specific regions and channels migrating to the new standard at different times. Starting from August 28, 2024, some Rai channels, including Rai Storia, Rai Radio 2 Visual, and Rai Scuola, will be transmitted using the DVB-T2 standard. However, popular channels such as Rai 1 and Rai 2 will remain on the current standard for the time being.
