Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell has entered concussion protocol after hitting his head on a door frame during pre-game warmups on Monday night. The injury occurred as Powell was attempting a high-five with a teammate.
Powell was immediately taken to the locker room and evaluated by team medical staff. He did not return to the game and is now listed as day-to-day.
Powell has averaged 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season for the Mavericks. He is a key player in the team's rotation and his absence will be felt.
The Mavericks are currently 23-19 on the season and are in fifth place in the Western Conference. They are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
