Gavi shines as Spain reach final
Spain have beaten Italy 2-1 in the Nations League semi-finals thanks to a late goal from Juventus midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The match was a tight affair, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find a breakthrough in the first half.
Spain took the lead in the 56th minute through Ferran Torres, but Italy equalised just six minutes later through Lorenzo Pellegrini.
The match looked to be heading for extra time, but Barella popped up with a winner in the 88th minute to send Spain through to the final, where they will face either Croatia or the Netherlands.
Spain were the better team for much of the match, and they deserved to win. Gavi was excellent in midfield, and he was a constant threat to the Italian defence.
Italy will be disappointed to have lost, but they can take heart from the fact that they gave a good account of themselves against a strong Spanish side.
